September 11th, 2001 forever changed the way security is handled at airports around the country. The Transportation Security Administration or TSA is now charged with checking and screening every piece of luggage or item that is loaded or carried onto an aircraft. The past six years many of us have witnesses the transformation of security as we've flown and passed through security. Today TSA officials in Minot rededicated themselves to protecting the safety of airline travelers. At a ceremony at the International Airport, TSA officials retook the oath to serve and protect, were issued badges to be worn on their uniforms and unveiled the new TSA uniforms that will be standard issue starting September 11th. John Hershey, the Federal Security Director for TSA, says the devotion and dedication of terrorists is formidable and never ending, which is why the TSA must maintain its vigilance and ability to evolve... (John Hershey, Federal TSA Security Director) But as technology closes more gaps so this evolving threat is never going away, the reliance more and more on you people and your experience and your expertise and your professionalism becomes more and more a factor. Today's program was part of the the checkpoint evolution program that has been underway for the past six years.
